Sprocket is a gear with metal teeth, which is meshed with a chain, or other holey material. Wheels having radial projections, to which a chain is engaged passing over it, are called sprocket gears. It is different from gear in that sprockets are not meshed together directly, and also is different from pulleys in that, sprocket has teeth and pulleys are smooth. Sprockets are used in cycles, motorcycles and other machines, where it is needed to transmit rotary motion from one shaft to another shaft, in such cases, gears are not suitable. Most common use of sprocket is in bicycles, where pedal shaft has a big sprocket wheel, this drives a chain and chain drives a sprocket on axle of rear wheel.
Spiral Bevel Gears have curved and oblique teeth which contact each other smoothly and gradually from one end of tooth to the other, and meshes with a rolling helical gear. These gears have quiet and smooth operation as compared to straight bevel gears. Because design is such that it it has two or more contacting teeth. Spiral bevel gears are given preference over straight bevel gears for many applications. In these gears tooth load is evenly distributed, and they carry more load without fatigue. There is a right hand spiral bevel gear and a left hand spiral bevel gear. Hypoid is also a spiral bevel gear whose axis do not intersect with the axis of meshing gear.
Pulleys are most commonly used equipment has applications at work places and in houses. A hotel lift or elevator and sewing machines are the examples of use of pulleys. Timing Belt Pulleys Singapore, can be purchased in Singapore and are popular pulleys and these have ability to prevent misalignment and maintain accurate timing during its operation. Timing belt pulleys are used where two shafts are needed to be precisely linked for analogous rotation. As there are teeth or pockets along outside of pulley’s diameter, and therefore teeth or pockets firmly attach the belt during the operation. Timing belt pulleys may have variation depending upon the application.
